Plymouth Township Firefighers responded to Wilox Pond at Hines Drive last week to answer the call to help a trumpeter swan trapped in the swift water near the dam. The alarmed citizens who called stated that the swan had been in the same spot for more that 24 hours. Using a ladder and harness, Fire Department Lt. Peter Bukis made his way to the swan and into the water, grabbed the bird and saved it. Bukis is a certified and trained Swift Water and Technical Rescue Technician, among many other disciplines. The swan is safe and doing fine.
