Nutcracker trailer theft suspect arraigned

Cooperative community police work has led to the identification, arrest and arraignment of one suspect in the recent “Nutcracker” stage play props trailer theft.

The trailer belonging to the Plymouth Ballet Company was stolen on Nov. 17 during the overnight hours in the 8100 block of Ronda Drive in Canton.

Canton Police report in a release today that the department’s Investigative bureau working in unison with the Plymouth Township Police Department, Monroe County Sheriff’s Department and the Toledo (Ohio) Police Department, identified and arrested a 20-year-old suspect on Dec. 17, 2024.

Brandon Keel, from Toledo, Ohio, was arraigned before 35th District Court before Judge James Plakas on the following charges:

  • 1 count of Larceny $20,000 or more; a 10-year felony
  • 1 count of Receiving & Concealing Stolen Property $20,000 or more; a 10-year felony

Keel was also arraigned on the same charges for an additional trailer theft that occurred in Plymouth Township.

Plakas set Keel’s bond at $20,000 cash, with a mandatory tether for the Canton charges and set the same bond for the Plymouth Township charges.

Keel’s next court hearing is scheduled for December 27, 2024, at 35th District Court.
