Car crash takes lives of Northville couple

Township police report a car crash early Saturday morning in the area of Seven Mile and Napier killed Northville residents Omar Salamen, 46, and his 40-year-old wife, Manal Kadry.

According to a news release, Northville Township Police and Fire personnel responded to Bayberry Way in the Steeplechase subdivision at 12:17 a.m. for a reported roll-over crash and used extrication equipment to remove the occupants. The couple was beyond life saving measures and were pronounced dead at the scene. Police believe the vehicle was attempting to navigate a curve when it struck a tree.

Salamen was an oral surgeon and operated the Dexter Oral Surgery and Implant Center in Dexter. Kadry ran an interior design business and had worked as an art teacher in Detroit.

The couple leave behind four children.

A funeral prayer will be held at the Muslim Community of Western Suburbs in Canton at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Burial will follow at Knollwood Memorial Park.

The investigation into the crash is on-going and toxicology reports are incomplete.
