Suspect arrested in Highland Lakes gunshots case

Northville Township Police say a man suspected of firing shots June 13 in the Silver Springs Drive and Eight Mile Road area of the Highland Lakes community has been arrested and charged.

Authorities report Justin Darius Russell, 33, of Detroit was arraigned June 29 in the 35th District Court in Plymouth and charged with 14 felony counts, including habitual offender.

Russell was charged with:

Assault With Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm less than Murder

Weapons – Firearms – Discharge from Vehicle

Weapons – Firearms – Discharge in or at a Building

Weapons – Firearms – Possession by Felon

Weapons Ammunition Possession by Felon

Weapons – Carrying Concealed

Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Felonious Assault

Weapons Felony Firearm (6) Counts

 

Bond was set at $1 million, no 10%.

The investigation culminating in the arrest involved detectives and officers from Northville Township, FBI Violent Crimes Task Force and Canton Township Police Department Special Operations Group.

A probable cause conference has been set for July 7, 2023.
