Reward offered after gunman robs Canton bank

Huntington Bank has offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the man who robbed the Michigan Avenue branch Jan. 18.

Canton police were called to the bank, located east of Beck Road, just after 4 p.m. Jan. 18 following a report of a robbery. When officers arrived, witnesses told them that the suspect entered the bank and approached a teller showing her a gun and demanding money. The man was described as white, in his 30s, wearing a black hat and coat, gray pants, sunglasses and a mask made of bandages covering his face.

The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash from the bank and then fled the building in an unknown direction, witnesses told officers.

An investigation into the robbery by detectives from the Canton Police Department and the FBI is under way. Anyone who may have knowledge of the suspect or the robbery is  asked to contact the Canton Police Department at (734) 394-5400, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
