A truck delivers a special order Pole Cat snow machine to the Plymouth Township park Monday from the manufacturer in Midland, Michigan.

Approval for the huge machine was a hotly contested issue at the February Board of Trustees Meeting when Trustee Bob Doroshewitz and Chuck Curmi cited examples of communities across the country where sledding is banned as a risk due to serious injuries. The $21,820 machine, requested by Treasurer Ron Edwards, will be permanently installed at McClumpha Park at the site of the sledding hill after three phase wiring and new water lines are installed this spring. The board approved the purchase by a 4-3 vote.
