Plymouth Township firefighters plan Fill-the-Boot fundraiser

MDA and IAFF LogosNot only are the Plymouth Township Firefighters pledged to save lives, both as paramedics and firefighters, but they are pledging their support for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, MDA this Saturday, May 31 at two township locations when the IAFF union professionals team up with the MDA for the 60th year.

The Fill the Boot Campaign will take place 10:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Busch’s Market at Sheldon and Five Mile and the Kroger store located at Sheldon and Ann Arbor Road.

Veteran firefighter Dan Atkins says he’s hoping the get a get the word out to the entire community to ask friends and residents to please show their support.

“There are currently several families in the Plymouth community that deal with this disabling disease and we want to help.” Atkins said.

“We’ll be collecting dollars for research and to help send children to summer camp.”

The IAFF is the nation’s largest sponsor of the MDA with their more than 280,000 members in the U.S. and Canada. The IAFF is also the largest sponsor of the MDA Labor Day Telethon.
