Northville Township Firefighters Fill The Boot

Aug. 14, 2013  PLYMOUTH EAGLE.

Northville Township firefighters collected $2,905 during their recent Fill The Boot campaign to help the Muscular Dystrophy Association. They exceeded the total from last year by $900, according to a spokesperson who said the firefighters are happy to help MDA which is an organization dedicated to finding a cure for muscular dystrophy.

The money collected will go to finding a cure for 40 neuromuscular diseases, as well as medical treatment, research and adaptive equipment and summer camps. Through the annual “Fill the Boot” event, firefighters across the United States and Canada have been a major contributor to the Muscular Dystrophy Association since 1952, raising more than $350 million. The event is successful thanks to hundreds of motorists who stop to put money in fire boots at intersections.  Northville Township Professional Fire Fighters IAFF Local 3961 thanked everyone who contributed to the effort again this year.
