The Northville Fire Department has two newly-promoted lieutenants.

Timothy Catalano and Jean “J.C.” Sicard officially celebrated their new ranks last month after successfully completing a competitive process that included an application phase, an interview and an oral board process where officers from other fire departments questioned each of the candidates.

Catalano serves at Station 2 in the City of Plymouth. He has more than 26 years of fire service experience and was an instructor at Schoolcraft College Fire Academy for two decades. During his tenure at the academy, he helped train many firefighters including several who now serve in the cities of Northville or Plymouth.

Catalano earned his associates degree in Fire Science and also serves on the Northville Fire Department Training Committee.

Sicard serves at Station 1 in Northville. He has 21 years of fire service experience, including seven years in his native France.

He is also a certified fire instructor and is licensed as a fire inspector in the State of Michigan. Sicard serves as a member of the Western Wayne Hazardous Materials Response Team and is also a member of the department training committee.

“The new lieutenants are helping make the Department a well-trained, hard-working and professional organization,” said Fire Dept. Chief Steve Ott.

The Northville City Fire Department serves the cities of Northville and Plymouth and is staffed by more than 50 part-time and paid-on-call personnel, operating out of three stations located in the two cities.

In their new roles, the lieutenants will serve as front line supervisors in charge of personnel working at fires, emergency medical service calls, and other incidents.
