An early morning fire at Mark’s Outdoor Power Equipment in Northville Township Tuesday was believed to have started in the first floor office area.

Thirty firefighters, three engines, two ladder trucks and two ambulances responded within 6 minutes, according to Northville Township Fire Chief Brent Siegel. Support was provided by Livonia, Plymouth Township, Northville City and Novi fire departments.

The first alarm came in at 12:50 a.m. after heavy smoke was reported coming from the family-owned business located at 16959 Northville Road. Siegel said it took 3 hours to get the fire under control. The fire was contained to the main building area and there were no injuries reported.

No damage estimates were available at press time.

Siegel said the cause of the fire was yet undetermined and under investigation but was not ruling out “electrical.”
