The annual Plymouth Township Fire Department Fill-the-Boot Campaign will begin at 9 a.m. Sept. 7 and 8 in front of the Kroger store at Ann Arbor and Sheldon roads. Township firefighters will be greeting customers and collecting funds to help local families affected by Muscular Dystrophy.

Since 1954, fire fighters have fueled the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) mission to find treatments and cures for life threatening muscle diseases. This year’s Plymouth Township Fill-the-Boot Campaign will show the dedication of the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) and Plymouth Township Local 1496 toward supporting the families and defeating the disease. Historically, during MDA’s signature campaign, member firefighters gather on streets across the country accepting donations from neighbors and passersby. As the MDA’s largest national sponsor, the IAFF fuels MDA’s mission to find treatments and cures for life-threatening muscle diseases.

The IAFF is a major contributing sponsor of the MDA Show of Strength Telethon. IAFF contributions from charity baseball games and other local events help support MDA’s efforts to raise awareness and provide professional and public education about neuromuscular diseases.
