Deep Freeze-Wind Chill Warning

Record cold temperatures are expected to be set in Detroit tomorrow and Thursday with dangerously cold wind chills as low as 45 degrees below zero. The forecast wind chills of 25 to 45 below zero will cause frostbite to exposed skin in less than 15 minutes.

Be prepared. Make sure to wear hats and gloves.

DO NOT leave pets outside.

Have a winter survival kit in your car, full tank of gas and cell phone and charger.

If your involved in a crash, stay in your car!

Wind chill warning remains in effect until 11 am Thursday…

* What… dangerously cold wind chills expected. Wind chills as low as 45 below zero.

* Where… portions of Southeast Michigan.

* When… until 11 a.m. EST Thursday.

* Additional details… the dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.

Precautionary/preparedness actions…

A wind chill warning means the combination of very cold air and the wind will create dangerously low wind chill values. Frostbite can occur quickly and even hypothermia or death if precautions are not taken.
