A special party for best friends has been planned from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. May 18.

Bark in the Park is being organized at the Canton Dog Park, so participants along with their four-legged friends can enjoy live entertainment from Flying Aces Dog Show, as well as purchase merchandise from local pet supply and service vendors. Dog park members and non-members can all enjoy the event, which is free, explained Canton Township Recreation Specialist Stephanie Pavlo.

“Non-members must show proof of up-to-date vaccination for rabies and DHLPP, which is signed by an accredited veterinarian,” she said.

“This special event is designed to give pet owners the opportunity to learn about the Canton Dog Park, meet other pet owners, and give dogs the opportunity to become more socialized,” Pavlo said. “We’re delighted that so many dog owners have expressed interest in these dog-related types of events.”

Located on Denton Road, just north of Cherry Hill Road and across from Canton Fire Station #3, this off-leash dog park pro- vides separate sections for large dogs 20 pounds or more and smaller breeds under 20 pounds, Pavlo added. The Canton Dog Park features an enclosed space of approximately 5 acres and a double-gated entry which is locked when the park is not open. Hours of operation are from dawn to dusk.

Membership applications for the Canton Dog Park will also be available during this special event. The cost of membership is $25 for residents and $50 dollars for non- residents.

These yearly membership fees cover up to three dogs per family. All dogs must be at least 4 months old, licensed and up-to-date on all required shots.

Bark in the Park vendors, include: Specialty Pet Supplies; Pet Supply Plus (pet supply store); Pawla’s Pantry (homemade dog treats); Bark Busters (trainer); All American Pet Resort (kennel/groomer); Homeward Bound (adoption); Regal Adornments (dog accessories); Bark for Life (fundraising group); Pawsitive Pet Massage and Concierge (pet massages); The Pet Doc (pet care); Paws Grooming Studio (groomer); Cruisin’ Custom Coney’s (hotdog stand) and others.

Bark in the Park visitors are also encouraged to explore the Canton Farmers Market, which begins the new season from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the same day just next door.
