A Life Dedicated to Serving Others: Remembering Aaron Michael Bigger
Fellow firefighters, family, friends and residents mourn the loss of a dedicated Plymouth Township Fire Department firefighter-paramedic and U.S. Army veteran who was always willing to put the needs of others before his own.
Aaron Michael Bigger, age 39, of Canton, Michigan, passed away on August 25, 2026.
Aaron lived his life marked by a commitment to service. He spent his career protecting, helping and caring for others.
Aaron was the beloved husband of Corriane “Corri” Bigger and the loving father of Henry Bigger, Ella Bigger, and Emerson Bigger. He was the dear son of John (Kim) Bigger and Paula (Matt) Philippart; loving brother of John (Marta) Bigger and Sean (Dani) Philippart; and proud uncle of Quinn and Hudson Erickson and Jax and Charlie Philippart.
Aaron was born on August 6, 1987, in Port Huron, Michigan, to John and Paula. He graduated from Thurston High School in Redford.
Aaron proudly served his country in the United States Army as a K-9 Military Police Officer from 2005 until 2012, achieving the rank of Sergeant. Continuing his dedication to serving others, Aaron later became a Firefighter/Paramedic with the Plymouth Township Fire Department.
On January 5, 2017, Aaron married Corriane Erickson in Plymouth, Michigan. Together, Aaron and Corri built a life centered on their family and the memories they created with their children.
Aaron was an avid sports fan who faithfully cheered for the Detroit Lions, Detroit Red Wings, and University of Michigan football. Above all, he loved supporting his children. He could often be found cheering at his son’s sporting events and proudly embracing his role as the best “Dance Dad” for his daughters.
Aaron also treasured traveling with his family, especially trips up north and visits to Disney World, along with the many other adventures they shared. He and Corri especially enjoyed attending country music concerts together.
Aaron will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his service to his country and community, and the joy he found in being a husband and father.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 28, from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Vermeulen-Sajewski Funeral Home, 46401 Ann Arbor Road West (between Sheldon and Beck Roads), Plymouth.
A Funeral Service will follow on Friday, August 28, at 5:00 PM at Risen Christ Lutheran Church, 46250 Ann Arbor Road West, Plymouth, located diagonally across the street from the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Bigger Children Education Fund. Checks may be made payable to Corriane Bigger and mailed to 39504 Dorchester Circle, Canton, MI 48188.
