The Eagle-a proud family newspaper that has its roots in operations established in Wayne County in 1886, 131 years ago.
The Belleville Enterprise began publishing on Mar. 10, 1886 by Roscoe C. Begole. It ceased on Feb. 23, 1939 and merged with Legal Times, and Romulus Roman, to form Enterprise-Roman and the Legal Times. Enterprise-Roman and the Legal Times began publishing on Mar. 3, 1939 by Beard Newspaper Pub. Co. It ceased on Dec. 31, 1968 and split into Romulus Roman and Belleville Enterprise. Belleville Enterprise was publishing by 1976 by Associated Newspapers Inc.
