Canton man charged with First Degree Murder

A Canton Township man, Devereaux Christopher Johnson, age 47, was arraigned this afternoon in Plymouth 35th District Court before Judge James Plakas in the death of his neighbor, Nathan Morris, 35, on Saturday morning in the 200 block of Cornell Street, after a confrontation.
Johnson is charged with:
- Homicide – Murder First Degree – Premeditated; a felony punishable by life without parole
- Weapons – Firearms – Possession by a Felon; a felony punishable by 5 years
- Two counts of Felony Firearm
Johnson was convicted of sexual assault in Nevada in 2005 and is on the Michigan Sex Offender Registry.
Plakas remanded Johnson over to be held at the Wayne County Jail without bond pending his next court hearing in 35th District Court set for Aug. 23, 2024.
