City approves grant and loan to cleanup former Bathey property

Plymouth City Commission approved a grant of $1 million and a loan of $1 million from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) in support of the Pulte of Michigan development at the long vacant 100 S. Mill property.

Officials were informed in January that the MDEQ would increase its original $600,000 grant award by $400,000 to bring the total grant award to $1 million.

Pulte received Planning Commission approval in October of 2018 to build 76 attached single-family townhomes on the former Bathey site. The area is in need of significant environmental cleanup due to the former industrial use. Pulte is currently developing its Brownfield plan and is hopeful to begin construction in 2019.
