Winter Storm Watch-heavy snow expected

A Winter Storm Watch goes into effect late Tuesday night and expires 4:00 a.m. Thursday for all southeast Michigan. The bulk of the snowfall is expected during Wednesday afternoon with the heaviest snowfall occurring during the evening rush hours.

The National Weather Service reports snow will develop over Lower Michigan Tuesday evening-night and continue through Wednesday evening. Forecasters have set their prediction to 3-7 inches of snow with locally higher amount possible as they warn metro Detroiters of a likely big winter blast.

The NWS says it will be very windy and cold as overnight temperatures drop Wednesday and produce Real Feel temperatures in the single digits by daybreak. Northwest wind gusts of 20 to 30 mph Wednesday night to Thursday could produce some blowing and drifting snow

Weather experts warn motorist can expect slippery road conditions as hazardous driving during the morning an evening commute.
