Wayne County Veterans job fair Saturday

Wayne County Veteran Services along with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation is hosting the “Hiring Our Heroes” job fair on Saturday, March 5 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Detroit VA Healthcare Center located at 4646 John R in Detroit.
Wayne County Veteran Services will be present to provide information on its programs including: financial and emergency home repair assistance through the Soldiers & Sailors Relief and Michigan Veteran Trust Funds as well as funeral expense assistance. A representative from Wayne County Human resources will also have information on the many job openings available in Wayne County government.
John Gardner, Division Director of Wayne County Veteran Services will be a featured presenter during an employment workshop scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. During the workshop Gardner will give tips on:
- Personal Branding
- Networking
- Resume Preparation
- Interview Preparation
- Transitioning from military status back to civilian status
“The Hiring Our Heroes Job Fair will provide opportunities for veterans and their families, who have bravely sacrificed in defense of our freedom and have considerable talent and unique skills that will strengthen our civilian workforce and our economy,” said Gardner.
The Hiring Our Heroes Job Fair is free but participants are asked to register. Job seekers and employers must register at: HiringOurHeroes.org/events.
Veterans must provide proof of service.
Hiring Our Heroes is a nationwide initiative to help veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses find meaningful employment.
