Detroit Tree Lighting Ceremony

Downtown Detroit will come alive with the Christmas spirit this Friday, November 16, when the Winter Magic kicks off with the Annual Detroit Tree Lighting Ceremony,  presented by DTE Energy Foundation and Quicken Loans

It’s the start of the 9th Annual Winter Magic Season at Campus Martius Park. The 15 week extended season runs from Nov. 16, 2012  to Mar. 3, 2012 and includes many new additions and first time enhancements.

2012  Detroit Tree Lighting Ceremony presented by DTE Energy Foundation is the official Kick Off of Detroit’s Holiday Season.

The Park’s beautiful fountain, Detroit’s 55 foot Christmas Tree and the spectacular Lighting Ceremony have now become a new Detroit family tradition similar to that of New York’s Rockefeller Center tree lighting.

Detroit Tree Lighting Show and Ceremony,  5 pm-Midnight- 10-20,000 attendees will be on site to witness the Tree Lighting.

Tree lights at Approximately 7:30 pm.  The 55 ft.  The 10,000 lb. and 55 ft. tall Norway Spruce will be draped in over 19,000 LED lights. The tree is from Manton, Michigan 10 miles north of Cadillac, Michigan. The tree will be lit and in place through January 21.

Live entertainment and Skating Spectacular from 6:30 – 8pm,

Skating performances by the Detroit Skating Club and Arctic Figure Skating Club.

Grand Opening of the Rink at Campus Martius Park

Located next to Detroit Christmas Tree, the Rink offers a high energy skating experience in the heart of downtown, surrounded by Detroit’s historic skyline, surround sound, and beautiful color changing lighting. Rink side dining and drinks at the Fountain Bistro, concessions and a party room are part of this special experience.

Rink opens to the public for the Season with a Grand Opening Party on November 16; from 9pm – 12am

93.9 The River will host the party with live band and music.

 

The Rink will be Open Every Day thru March 3
