The Canton Police Department has scheduled Coffee with a Cop from 9-11 a.m. July 17 at Village Coney Island, 47182 Michigan Ave.

These on-going sessions are open to the public and provide a unique opportunity for community members to ask questions and learn more about the department’s work in Canton’s neighborhoods and business districts.

The majority of contacts law enforcement has with the public happen during emergencies or stressful situations. Those situations are not always the most effective times for relationship building, officials said. Coffee with a Cop breaks down barriers and allows for relaxed one-on-one interaction. The Canton Police Department is holding multiple sessions throughout the community this year. Anyone with a business or organization interested in hosting a 2-hour session of Coffee with a Cop, should contact the police department at (734) 394-5401.

Requirements to host a 2-hour session of Coffee with a Cop include having a Canton location, being open to the public and providing coffee for attendees.
